Plastic bowls can collect bacteria that give the water a strange taste. Wash your dog’s water dish frequently and fill it up with cold clean water. You can also add ice cubes to cool the water down. Perhaps the easiest way to keep your dog out of your toilet is to keep the lid down, so they don’t have access.

Is drinking from the toilet dangerous?

For the most part, the bacteria in the toilet won’t hurt your dog. However those pesky chemicals that you use to kill the bacteria can be dangerous to your dog. If you use chemicals to clean your toilet be sure to keep the lid down and your dog away.
