It is necessary to clean and check your dog's ears regularly. This is even more important if you have a floppy eared dog as they are more prone to ear infections.

The skin inside of the dog's ear should be a pale pink. If it is dark, red, or smells bad they have an infection and should be seen by a vet for proper evaluation and treatment.

If the ear looks good, use a cotton ball dipped in warm water and mineral oil. Ring it out, and gently wipe the ear. Be careful not to press too hard or enter too far into the ear canal.
